Dr. Manmohan Singh was born on September 26, 1932 in Gah, Punjab (now in Pakistan). After partition, he migrated to India along with his family. There was no electricity in his village. He used to study under a kerosene lit lamp.  Dr. Manmohan Singh an economist and former prime minister of India, played a major role in development of India as he held many posts across different departments like Planning Commission, Reserve Bank of India, economic advisory, etc. He is a self-made person and rose up in life all by his sheer efforts.

Now, let us look at his life from an astrological angle.

For any person to be successful his ascendant and ascendant lord should be strongly placed in the birth chart. Here the ascendant or the Lagna is Sagittarius and its lord Jupiter is in the 9^th house which is the house of luck and higher learning. This ascendant lord Jupiter is conjunct with strong Ketu (Ketu is very strong in 9^th house) causing Matsya Yoga. Jupiter is also aspected by Rahu which is strongly placed in third house. This made him proficient in learning and pursued higher studies at Cambridge University. Another BIG positive is Lagna lord Jupiter aspecting Lagna with its fifth aspect.

Another prominent yoga in his chart is conjunction of 9^th and 10^th lord in 10^th house which causes Dharma-Karma Yoga. He is a work alcoholic and he considers work as worship. Sun placed in 10^th house which is the hose of work and profession, gave him career in government roles as Sun represents government. Sun in 10^th house also doesn’t give credit to native for all the good work done by native. Mercury placed in 10^th house is not a good placement though. This Mercury placement makes the native obedient towards his or her seniors. At times, he or she may not agree to his or her seniors still the native will have the habit of agreeing to what the seniors direct.

Moon in 8^th house is described by Lal Kitab as “Fateh ka Ghoda” which means stallion of victory. This placement of Moon improves Mars wherever Mars is placed in birth chart. Mars is naturally powerful in 8^th house but it is placed in emotional sign of Cancer at his debilitation. This made his nature submissive and introvert. Mars in 8^th house makes a native foul mouth and bad tempered but a powerful Moon (own sign of Cancer) mellowed down Mars and made him gentle in speech.

Saturn which is the significator of work is placed comfortably in 2^nd house in its own sign of Capricorn. Aspect of Moon and Saturn (direct 7^th aspect) makes him a deep thinker and good at strategies. Saturn in 2^nd house gives a difficult childhood but a person improves with the passage of time.
