Shree Ram – Raghupati Raaghav Raaja Ram Patit Paavan Sita Ram

Shree Ram – Raghupati Raaghav Raaja Ram Patit Paavan Sita Ram

Shree Ram as we all know belongs to Raghukul (Lineage of King Raghu); hence he is addressed as Raghukul Shiromani. His name is Ram, often addressed as Raaghav. He was a just ruler, hence the name Raaja Ram. He always ensured upliftment of the poor and downtrodden, hence the name Patit Paavan Ram. He married Devi Sita, hence the name Sita Ram. Today, on the occasion of Ram Navami, I will analyze his birth chart. The first question which comes to your mind is where did you get the birth and time details of Shree Ram. To answer this, one can refer the Ramaayan written by Saint Valmiki. In the Bal Kaand Section, chapter 18, verse (shloka 8 to 11) below shlokas are written. This shloka clearly says he was born on Ninth day (Navami Tithi) of Chaitra month, in Cancer ascendant and Punarvasu Nakshatra.

On completion of the ritual, six seasons have passed by; then in the twelfth month, i.e., in Chaitra-masa, and on the ninth day of that Chaitra month [April], when it is Punarvasu nakshatra, navamI tithi, i.e., when the ruling star of that ninth day is Punarvasu, for which Aditi is the presiding deity; and when four of the nine planets – Kuja (Mars), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn) are in ucchasthana (which mean in exalted sign), and when Chandrayukta -Guru, which means Jupiter in conjunction with Moon is in ascendant in Cancer and when day is advancing (Noon time -Abhijit Muhurat), Queen Kausalya gave birth to a son with all the divine attributes like lotus-red eyes, lengthy arms, red lips, who took birth to delight the Ikshwaku dynasty and adored by all and who is the greatly blessed epitome of Vishnu, namely Rama.

There is a controversy on placement of Sun. As per the respected Astrology expert Shri K. N. Rao, Navami Tithi requires that there should be 96 degrees between the Sun and the Moon. So, if Moon is in Punarvasu, that is, within 3 degrees and 20 minutes of Cancer, the Sun has to be in Pisces instead of Aries. It is only if the Sun were in Pisces/Meena then Tithi could be Navami. However, most of the astrologers place the Sun in the 10th house in the sign of Aries. This is more from reverence and respect to Lord Rama as they want to show even Sun exalted in Aries. I would go with Shri KN Rao as it is more scientific and is also reflected in his life. Placement of Sun in the 9th house makes it conjunct with Venus. Sun and Venus combination gives a difficult married life and so was the case with Shree Ram.

If we see the above chart of Shree Ram it appears to be the most ideal one. All planets are well placed. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer causing Hansa Raj Yoga, Saturn is exalted in Libra causing Sasa Raj Yoga, Mars is exalted in Capricorn causing Ruchak Raj yoga, Venus is in Pisces causing Malavya Raj Yoga. Moon conjunct with Jupiter also causes Gaj-Kesari Raj Yoga. Rahu in 6th house and Ketu in 12th house is also ideal placement of Rahu and Ketu. Again, if you observe Lagna Kundli and Chandra Kundli of Shree Ram is the same as Moon is placed in Lagna, so all these Raj Yogas which are formed from Lagna also form in Chandra or Moon Kundali. Thus the Raj Yogas become more powerful.

Now, Cancer ascendant with Moon placed in Lagna in its own sign makes the ascendant very compassionate and loving. If you see Shree Ram was a very compassionate person, even towards his enemies, his enemies used to achieve Moksha after dying at his hands. Jupiter in Lagna bestowed him with immense wisdom and righteousness (Maryada Purushottam). Exalted Jupiter also gave him Teachers of the highest order like Vashishtha and Valmiki. Saturn exalted in the sign of Libra gave him the Sevak (Servant) of the highest order -Shree Hanuman as Saturn represents servants. Rahu in 6th house makes the person always victorious in wars, Shree Ram never lost any battle and was always victorious. Mars which represents siblings is again exalted. Shree Ram’s brothers were equally good at valor and bravery. Venus which represents wife in a male chart is again exalted. Shree Ram’s wife Shree Sita was very caring and she set an example of an ideal wife (Naari Dharma). Sun in 9th house makes the person highly religious. Mercury in 10th house is again a Kendra position and being the ruler of 3rd and 12th house, he faced troubles from public while completing his duties as a King.

Now, let me throw some light on the flip side. Jupiter in Lagna which is the ruler of 6th house is exalted in the sign of Cancer. We see enemies from the 6th house. In his life time he had to deal with enemy of the highest order (Exalted) -Raavan. Saturn is in 4th house. Fourth house is the house of comforts and luxuries. Saturn deprived Shree Ram from the comforts and luxuries during Saturn Mahadasha as he had to go to exile. Now, quickly a thought would run in your mind, how is it that the Mahadasha was of Saturn. As we all know, Vimshottari dasha system starts with the ruler of birth Nakshatra. Punarvasu being the birth nakshatra of Shree Ram (mentioned in Valmiki Ramaayan) ruled by Jupiter, the Mahadasha to follow was of Saturn. This is also proved by the fact that during exile he suffered from pain (Saturn rules 8th house of pain) like hostile living conditions, sad news of father’s demise, loss of wife.

Exalted Mars in 7th house (although Yoga Karak in this chart but it is a natural malefic) gave problems in married life. He had to suffer from separation from his spouse twice in his lifetime. Sun conjunct with Venus as I said before is also one of the reasons for difficulties in married life.
