Lal Kitab is a stream of Astrology which gives super importance to Houses. For every chart, a Lal Kitab astrologer considers the first house as occupying the sign of Aries, second house as Taurus, third as Gemini, so on and so forth. Today, I will be discussing the significance and attributes of fifth to eighth houses. My article would be a mix of Hindi and English to bring out the poetic verses of Lal Kitab. While it is true that Lal Kitab dispenses with Raashis and Nakshatras but in the broader context it does refer to their importance at many places. Raashis do have their effect -Malefic if Debilitated and Benefic if Exalted. Some planets in some houses are of Raashi Fal, meaning their result is as per the Raashi they are placed. Example -Moon, Mars and Jupiter in house No. 6 are of Raashi Fal.

9^th House

घर नौव्वा है गुरुबुज़ुर्गी – जड़ बुनियाद ग्रह नौ की।

मकान जदी जो होवे अपना -परोपकार बुजुर्गो का।

Presiding Lord -Jupiter:

This house represents luck, inherited property, blessings of ancestors, religion, long travels, fame, etc. It also represents left cheek, left side of heart and knees. This house is like the foundation of luck and fortune. This house is the abode of Jupiter. Whenever this house is occupied by enemies of Jupiter like Mercury, Venus and Rahu strength of Jupiter diminishes. Jupiter placed in the sign of Cancer (Exalted sign) in the 9^th house will give the native kingly stature provided there are no afflictions on Jupiter and other houses of Jupiter viz. 2^nd house, 5^th house, 11^th house and 12^th house are not occupied by enemies of Jupiter.

10th House

घर दसवा है शनि का अपना – खुद वरासत लाता है।

खुद पिदर को या उसे होवे – साल मकां इकत्तीस रहता है।

Presiding Lord -Saturn:

This house represents name, fame and position in society. It also represents your job and profession. Saturn sitting here with malefic aspects makes a native cunning and sly like a fox. It basically represents means of livelihood. If this house is under attack by all the malefic influences, then the entire horoscope is termed as ‘blind horoscope’ and even an exalted Saturn cannot redeem it. Such native is like a blind man finding his way with difficulty. Role of Rahu, Ketu and Mercury is suspicious in this house. The result of these planets in 10^th house depends upon Saturn. If Saturn in benefic in the chart these planets will give their best results.

11th House

घर ग्यारह का शनि है – मालिक – पर दरबार गुरु का है।

घड़ा भरा पानी है बेशक – बरतता तो गुरु ही है।

Presiding Lord -Saturn/Jupiter:

This house represents earnings, wish fulfillments and even elder siblings. Although this house is of Saturn but Jupiter reigns over this house and Saturn leaves its malefic nature in this house. The best placement in this house is of exalted Mars (in the sign of Capricorn). Mars in this house is like honey bee, which fills the beehive with honey. The native’s coffers will overflow with wealth if this house is occupied by exalted Mars. Jupiter and Mercury give poor results in this house. A native with Jupiter in 11^th house will have comfortable life during his or her father’s life time.

12th House

घर बारह है सुख गृहस्ती – गुरु राहु दो बैठे हैं।

मछली ढूंढे पानी बादल का – वचन श्राप इकट्ठे है।

Presiding Lord -Rahu/Jupiter: This house represents bed pleasures, confinement in jails and foreign lands, conjugal bliss and expenditure. It also represents financial losses, hour of death, moksha (emancipation or liberation), bad dreams, mental agony, left eye, left shoulder and imprisonment. Rahu in this house is malefic and Ketu is exalted here. This house is like a judge who presides over the quarrels between different houses but the final decision is taken by 2^nd house.
