Exalted Uranus -Alfred Hitchcock

Exalted Uranus -Alfred Hitchcock

The moment you read Uranus, a feeling comes, what good this planet would do in our lives. It is one of the outer planets which is even beyond Saturn in the galaxy. It remains in a particular sign or Rashi for 7 long years. So, to cover all the 12 signs or Rashi, Uranus takes 84 years (7*12). Let me explain, Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer (Karka) and Jupiter stays in a Rashi for 1 year and covers all Rashis in 12 years. Thus, once in 12 years we have natives with an exalted Jupiter. Similarly, Saturn remains in a Rashi for 2.5 years and covers all Rashis in 30 years. Thus, once in 30 years we have natives with an exalted Saturn in Libra. Imagine the importance of Uranus, we have natives with exalted Uranus once in 84 years. Now you understand the importance of an exalted Uranus in one’s birth chart. Uranus rules over the sign of Aquarius (11th sign) and is exalted in the sign of Scorpio (8th sign). Need I say more to emphasize the importance of Uranus?

Let me give you some significations of Uranus. Uranus is a Greek God. It is also known as Prometheus – God of Sky. In Indian astrology it is known as Indra, also known as Harshal. Uranus represents futuristic ideas, it is the disruptor of old ideas and traditions. Uranus represents invention, braking Orthodox ideas, it is progressive, sudden (like a bolt of lightning) and Uranus is a rebel. Natives born between these years haven an exalted Uranus, meaning their Uranus is in Scorpio: 1896-1902, 1979-1985 and the future torch bearers would be those taking birth between 2063-2069. Please don’t lose heart if you are not born in these date ranges. The next best position for Uranus is its placement in its own sign which is Aquarius. Natives born between 1918-1925 and 2002-2009 will have Uranus placed in its own sign in their birth chart in the sign of Aquarius. One should not just rejoice that they have an exalted Uranus or Uranus placed in its own sign. The signification of the house which it rules and the house in which it is placed plays an important role.

Today, I am going to discuss about Alfred Hitchcock. Sir Alfred Hitchcock born on 13th August 1899, 03:15 am, London UK was English film director, producer and screenwriter. He is one of the most influential and widely studied filmmakers in the history of cinema. He is known as the “Master of Suspense” and has directed over 50 movies. His movies got 46 Academy awards nominations and won 6 of those. His style includes use of camera movement to mimic a person’s gaze and framing shots to maximize fear and anxiety. He had many successful movies, to name a few, Rebecca (1940), Foreign Correspondent (1940), Suspicion (1941), Shadow of Doubt (1943), Lifeboat (1944), Spellbound (1945) and Notorious (1946). Towards the end of his life, he was working on the script for a spy thriller. This movie was never released due to the deteriorating health of Hitchcock.  Now, let us look at his chart to understand what made him such a great showman.

To start with, let us have a look at the Lagna or the first House. As any influence of planets on the Lagna determines the character and personality of the person. Lagna is occupied by Venus which is the planet of creativity and movies. It is also occupied by Sun which signifies leadership and excellence. Thus, we know what made him excel in the movie business.

For becoming a very good director and screen writer one has to have a creative mind. Mind is represented by Moon. Moon is strongly placed in the birth chart. As we can observe, in the above chart, his moon is placed in the Kendra conjunct with an auspicious, naturally benefic planet Jupiter, forming Gaj-Kesari yoga. Mercury which is again very important, as good intellect can bring out good creativity, is well placed in second house and getting the 9th aspect of Rahu. Rahu is a planet of expansion, basically Rahu is an amplifier. Rahu increases the capabilities of the planets multi fold with which it is conjunct or the one it aspects. Eighth house is the house of secrets and hidden things, thus the ruler of 8th house which is Uranus is exalted in 5th house in the sign of Scorpio. Thus, his work had lot of surprise elements and was known as the Master of Suspense. This is further supported by the conjunction of Saturn with Uranus as Saturn also co-rules 8th house. This combination of Uranus and Saturn is forming in the 5th house which is the house of creativity and movies. Thus, we see the potential and impact of an exalted Uranus in a birth chart.
