Lakshmi Yoga as it would be anyone’s guess one of the best amongst the Raj Yogas. This yoga promises abundance of wealth in the native’s life time. The native would be blessed with abundant wealth, prosperity, good luck and overall prosperity. There are five types of Lakshmi Yogas -Lakshmi Yoga, Maha Lakshmi Yoga, Trin Lakshmi Yoga, Ashta Lakshmi Yoga and Nav Lakshmi Yoga. Each of these yogas are discussed below. The auspiciousness or the intensity of each Yoga increases in the order discussed below.

Lakshmi Yoga -For this yoga, the lord of the ascendant or the Lagna Lord or Lagnesh should be strongly placed in Kendra or Trikone houses either in the sign of exaltation, or in its Mool Trikon sign or in its own sign or in a friendly sign without the aspect of any malefic planet. This condition emphasizes the importance of Lagna or the self being very strong without which no wealth would come. Second condition is that the lord of 9^th house should be strongly placed in Kendra or Trikone houses either in the sign of exaltation, or in its Mool Trikon sign or in its own sign or in a friendly sign without the aspect of any malefic planet.

Maha Lakshmi Yoga – For this Yoga, there are three conditions. The lord of the ascendant or the Lagna Lord or Lagnesh should be strongly placed in 5^th and 9^th house either in the sign of exaltation, or in its Mool Trikon sign or in its own sign or in a friendly sign without the aspect of any malefic planet. Second condition, lord of second house should be placed in 11^th house either in the sign of exaltation, or in its Mool Trikon sign or in its own sign or in a friendly sign without the aspect of any malefic planet. Third condition, 2^nd house should get aspect of benefic planets like Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Moon (Waxing one).

Trin Maha Lakshmi Yoga – For this Yoga, there are two conditions. Lord of 5^th and 9^th house should be placed in Kendra houses either in the sign of exaltation, or in its Mool Trikon sign or in its own sign or in a friendly sign without the aspect of any malefic planet. Second condition, lord of 5^th and 9^th house should get aspect of naturally benefic planets like Jupiter, Venus, Moon (waxing moon) and Mercury.

Ashta Lakshmi Yoga – For this Yoga, there are two conditions. Rahu should be placed in 6^th house and the lord of 6^th house should be placed in Kendra or trine houses either in the sign of exaltation, or in its Mool Trikon sign or in its own sign or in a friendly sign without the aspect of any malefic planet. Second condition, Jupiter should be occupying any of the Kendra houses.

Nav Lakshmi Yoga – For this Yoga, there are three conditions. Lord of 11^th house should be placed in Kendra houses either in the sign of exaltation, or in its Mool Trikon sign or in its own sign or in a friendly sign without the aspect of any malefic planet. Second condition, lord of the ascendant or the Lagna Lord or Lagnesh should be placed in 11^th house. Third condition, lord of 9^th house should be placed in 9^th house itself.

Apart from above discussed Yogas, another fundamental principle is that if Kendra and Trikon lords are related in a birth chart without any malefic connection still Lakshmi Yoga will manifest in the native’s life. Lagna or the first house is both a kendra and a Trikone house. 5^th and 9^th houses are Trikon houses and termed as Lakshmi Sthan (place) in astrology. 1^st, 4^th, 7^th and 10^th house are termed as Narayan Sthan (place). Whenever a relationship is established between these houses -Laxmi and Narayan again Lakshmi Yoga is formed. Let me explain with sample birth chart.

Now, let us look at the applicability of Lakshmi Yoga on above birth chart of Shri Mukesh Ambani. Here one point worth noting is that both Jupiter and Saturn are retrograde. For people who are new to astrology may please note that retrograde planets give 50% of the effect of the previous house in which they are placed. By virtue of this Jupiter gives 50% of its effect of 9^th house where it gets exalted in the sign of Cancer, signifying very good luck. Also, Saturn gives the effect of 12^th house where it gets exalted in the sign of Libra, thus giving super benefic results of the 4^th house (4^th house has Aquarius sign which is ruled by Saturn) which signifies riches and luxuries.

The lord of Lagna which is Mars is placed in Kendra position in the 7^th house with no malefic aspects. Mars is creating Parivartan (exchange) yoga with Venus, since Mars is placed in Venus sign of Taurus and Venus is placed in Mars sign of Aries. Anytime, planets in Parivartan yoga, they are said to be placed in both houses, one where they are originally placed in birth chart and another house where they are in Parivartan (exchange) Thus, first condition that Lagnesh should be placed in Kendra is fulfilled. Also it gets 9^th aspect of highly benefic Jupiter as it exchanges its place with 6^th house Lord. Second condition, although lord of 9^th house which is Moon is not in Kendra or Trikon house, Moon is getting benefic 5^th aspect of Jupiter and also the 8^th aspect of Mars which is Lagnesh here. This creates a very good Lakshmi Yoga.

Here the lord of 2^nd house which signifies wealth and lord of 11^th house which signifies gains or earnings are also forming a relationship. Here Lord of second house Jupiter is giving its most benefic 9^th aspect to Mercury which is the lord of 11^th house. This again augurs well for wealth.
